I find it works really good. They've made some progress in recent years with the 4th edition, but still undermarketed, and thus they suffer.

To kind of play Devil's Advocate here: Running your own custom game is awesome, but it's a LOT more work—and totally overwhelming for new players which this is kind of geared towards.

It would have been nice if it came with a couple short, simple modules. Even when you're experienced, though, pre-made modules can be fun, and you can still exercise your storytelling muscles! I ran a campaign back in college where I used pre-made modules but wove them together into a larger, all-encompassing story that I created.

Change a few names here, replace a monster or two there, and come up with an overarching tale that includes each "mission," and you've got yourself a really cool partially-custom campaign without all the work.
